Vintage Necchi Children's Hand Crank Sewing Machine & Carrying Case This Vintage Necchi Children's Hand Crank Sewing Machine & Carrying Case, circa 1950, would definitely add a unique flair to any children's room. Constructed out of metal and wood, the children's bold dark green sewing machine operates with a heavy duty metal hand crank and has all the original parts, so the mechanism still works. Its original green carrying case has a brown leather handle and brown leather trim around its top and bottom. The sewing machine has the original Made in Italy and Necchi stamped label, measures, 05.50 inches H X 09.00 inches W X 04.50 inches D, and the carrying case measures, 07.00 inches H X 10.00 inches W X 05.50 inches D, both in their original condition with appropriate wear for their age.

Known for producing excellent quality and innovative designs, the Necchi Sewing Machine Company was founded in 1919 by Vittorio Necchi, who realized after he returned from WWI that he needed to explore a new direction since his family's cast iron foundry business was changing. The idea to produce Italy's first sewing machine came to him after his wife had asked him to buy her a new sewing machine. The only choices were imported models made in the United States and northern Europe, so Vittoro set up his first sewing machine production facility, and with only 40 workers by 1924 he had produced his first model. By 1946 the company was producing 10,000 machines a day, employing 4,500 workers, and selling to more than 10,0000 retailers!
