Vintage MidCentury Japanese 4 Panel Silk Screen

Unavailable
Mid 20th century four panel Japanese screen, featuring signed painting on silk, measuring almost 3 feet high and more than 6 feet wide. The scenic panels are delicately painted with a springtime motif of mountains, sea, blossoming trees, and traditional Japanese clothing, buildings, and watercraft. The image, in predominantly creams and greens with more colorful points of interest, is bordered in brown silk with a stylized floral and bird design in gold, and framed in black lacquered wood with brass trimmings. Each panel measures about 35.75 inches high and 18.5 inches wide, and has a geometric brass hanger. The screen is backed with heavy cardboard with a wood grain design. It was purchased from an estate where it hung above a dining room sideboard. It makes a stunning wall piece, and would look equally pleasing as a partial room divider. Condition is good to very good. The lacquered wood frame shows a bit of surface wear and scratching and a 3/4 inch sliver of wood missing on the back edge. The brass trim shows some wear and age patina. The cardboard backing is clean and intact, with one small area of scuffing and another small area with hairline splits. The silk panels are in very good condition, with the exception of a darkened speck, a small bit of soiling at the top, and a small scuffed area by the signature. Overall, this is a very sturdy and well-crafted piece. Please refer to the 4 photographs for general appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging will be $35 - $65, based upon the zip code of the buyer.
