Vintage Mid-Century Japanned Dining Set

This vintage mahogany dining set dates from the 1950s or 1960s and features an oval-shaped dining table with black japanned (lacquer-like) finish, decorated with floral and figural oriental ( Japanese or Chinese ) motifs, four side chairs and two armchairs. The maker is unknown. The table measures 30" high, 40" deep, and 60" (5 feet) long. This table also has three 18" leaves (in their original boxes) which extend the table to 114" or 9.5 feet. We also have the original custom-made velvet pads for the table. Chairs features their original black leather seat cusions and rattan seat backs. They measure 40" high, 19" wide, 18" deep and the seat heights are 18.5". The set has been passed down two generations and resided in a formal dining room for most of its life where it received little use. Thanks for visiting.
