Vintage Mexican Tooled Leather Suitcase Cosmetic Train Case Carry On

Vintage Mexican Tooled Leather Suitcase, Cosmetic, Train Case or Carry On, this case dates from the 1940's to 1950's and is a seldom seen piece.  This case is made of hand tooled leather, very detailed pattern all over the case.  The top of the case has an Aztec warrior or chief that is underneath the handle. The edge is a Aztec pattern, along with Mexico on the right side and the initials V.S.S.

The sides and bottom are also very detailed, they have the same matching Aztec pattern, and the front has an eagle perched on a cactus, part of the sun and another Aztec style pattern.  The bottom has the original four metal feet, handle is intact and covered with leather, latches and feet show some age related wear to the color.  The inside is intact and has a removable tray and a leather strap on one side to hold cosmetic bottles.  The original mirror is also intact, no cracks but does have some slight age related dullness to the mirror, really not bad but wanted to mention it for accuracy.  The inside bottom of the case has some stains, looks like something spilled in it at sometime, have not attempted to clean it.

The latches on the case work, however, they do not spring up when you unlatch them, but they do snap securely closed. The overall size of the case is 14" long by 9" wide and 7" deep, outer leather is all in very good condition, stitching is intact and there are no holes, tears, no damage to the leather.

This is a seldom seen piece, great addition to your collection or perfect to travel with!  No odors except when you open it, it has a faint smell of cosmetics.
