Vintage Fenton Hobnail Milk Glass Footed Cake Stand. Fenton Glass was established in 1905 by Frank and John Fenton in Martin's Ferry, Ohio, their earliest pieces were hand painted on blanks from other glass companies. Unable to get the quantity of glass they needed, they decided to make their own glass and 1907 the opened their own glass factory in Williamstown, West Virginia.
For 102 years, pieces made prior to 1973 are not marked with the Fenton Logo. Fenton has hand crafted some of our loveliest American collectible art glass and continues to be a family run business. The hobnail pattern is one of the most popular patterns that Fenton produced and is a favorite of collectors.
This piece has the ruffled, crimped edge smooth plate with the hobnail pattern on the base and on the underneath of the plate. The straight section of the stem is smooth also. It was made in the 1950's and is unmarked since it is precedes the date that Fenton marked their pieces. It is 12 1/2" across and about 5 1/2" tall, in excellent condition, no chips. Perfect for cake or cupcakes and always a favorite as a wedding centerpiece.
