For Sale I have a classic example of a Dresden Purse made in the 1920's. The Purse measurements with the Oval Link Chain is 13 3/8" long. The Purse Displays a Wonderful Floral Pattern that has been silk screened onto the metal Ring Mesh Purse. The Silk Screen Painting has been applied to both sides. This Silk Screen Process gives the appearance of a Water Color!!
The Purse is embellished with cutout Fringe and a Porcelain Enameled Frame decorated with Rosettes or Rose Buds and a Sapphire Kiss Style Clasp. There is a natural linen liner that has been hand sewn in. The liner has very minor stains. This Purse has been Gently used so there is some minor wear to the paint closest to the Porcelain Frame and the Outer edges. The Ring Mess are all intact and at ached to the frame.
Overall, the Purse is considered to be in Very Good to Excellent Condition. It is amazing that this delicate Purse has withstood the test of time. I believe this Purse to be of French Origin but it is not marked. This Purse was quite a pricey item in its day. It sold for $28-$42. The Average weekly Pay in 1925 was $24 per week. This would mean the average worker would have had to work 2 weeks to purchase this purse.
You can clearly see that this was marketed to a more affluent crowd as the price would have deterred the Middle Class from Purchasing it. I'm sure the buyer will be extremely Happy with this Purse.
