Vintage deco Mercury marcasite Ring Winged God Hermes diety

Brilliant marcasites sparkle around the head of this famous God. Mercury was the son of Jupiter (king of the gods), the result of an illicit union with Maia, goddess of the clouds (as well as one of the Pleiades). His many adventures and his assignment as guide of the dead to Hades, made him the patron god of travellers. But his tricks also made him patron of thieves. This thick brass ring has a tear drop opening where Mercury resides. The ring between a 7 1/2 and an 8 and measures 3/4" at its widest. This is in such great shape and it one of the most unusual winged God rings I have seen.
