VINTAGE ALLIGATOR HANDBAG W/ SPINES, KELLY STYLE, CHANGE PURSE & MIRROR C.1950S
This vintage classic alligator Kelly-style purse is designed with the spiny horn back and tail skin circling the middle of the bag, creating lots of interest. It dates from the mid-1950s. The tag inside reads "Guaranteed Real Alligator" with the image of an alligator printed underneath...faded, but it's all there. The purse itself measures 10-1/4 inches wide at the bottom, 9-1/4 inches wide at the top, 7 inches high and 1-3/4 inches deep when empty. The braided leather handle has a 5-3/4 inch drop and is in good condition. The interior is lined with tan leather and has two compartments that contain a real alligator change purse and a mirror with a faux alligator backing. The brass fittings accent the bag, and the clasp works well. The purse is in very good condition with glossy skins and hardly any wear. There are some scuff marks on the interior lining and the mirror has some discoloration. All in all, this is a fine vintage alligator bag with plenty of style.
