In the 60's smoking was still "cool" and ashtrays were an important part of home decorating. Mosaics were the hot new style. This piece can be used as a serving dish or as an ashtray. The 7.75" x 6" rectangular ashtray would have been proudly displayed as the focal point of the coffee table. The back is gold tone metal.
