mportant and extraordinary pair of Vienna Seccessionist silver candlelabra. The lobed, circular bases rise toward central acorn-like finials that each bears three deeply curving arms, in turn supporting lobed tulip-shaped candle socket. The candlelabra are made of very heavy gauge silver and the surfaces are hand hammered with great precision. The overall design is masterful, and easily on par with the silver works of Josef Hoffman. The candlelabra bear numerous markings, including the Vienna mark for .800 silver established in 1922 and the silversmith's hallmark "JxH". One candlelabrum is also marked "800", possibly indicating that they were exported to Germany or Italy at some time early in their life. There is one additional figural mark that is illegible. Origin: Austria, ca. 1925. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: one candlelabrum is 6-7/8" tall and the other is 7"; both have an arm spread of approximately 7". Total Weight: 1,475.0 grams.
