This lovely Victorian light is referred to as a piano lamp and originally was designed to be next to a piano or organ to provide additional illumination. The lamp measures 40" tall to the top of the brass font. The 10" ball shade is handpainted with roses in a soft plum color and has an appropriate glass chimney. The floor lamp has twisted brass center pole supported by an ornately cast iron shelf and legs. Look closely and you will see cast faces of cherubs surrounding the shelf and a wonderful pattern on the shelf itself. There is a small chip (2") of cast iron around the outside edge of the top shelf that is missing. It is extremely easy to miss and barely noticeable. There are delicately cast leaves resting on the curvaceous legs as well. The lamp is in excellent working condition and the on/off switch is located on the original brass burner. The glass ball shade and lamp frame are all in excellent condition as well.
