This large oak Victorian arm or gentleman’s chair has wonderful detailing. The burgundy needlepoint fabric has wonderful needlepoint in a rose design. The needlework is repeated on the arm rests and installed with fancy brass tacks. There is a wide carved panel below the back rest. Check out the boldly carved roaring lions on the hand rests. The detail is wonderfully executed – down to the flowing mane and sharp teeth. Look closely and you see that one tooth is missing on one of the lions. This only noticeable when you get down to eye level and look. Carvings continue along the front and side seat rails. The legs are boldly turned and still retain their original casters. The frame is tight and sturdy. Its size is generous and the chair is very comfortable.
