These vintage buttons are as gorgeous as can be. The were extremely soiled when I happened to run across them, so I cleaned them so thoroughly, that I removed the dark patina that went along with them. I had no choice, it was either I cleaned them, or tried to show them looking totally gross and cruddy, as I found them. They were too gorgeous to pass by, so I cleaned them very well,to the point of making the brass shine! There is some of the darker patina returning to a few of them, so not to worry, they will get a more aged appearance with time. The porcelain inlays are in excellent condition, as are the hand painted pink, yellow, and violet colored flowers, green little wispy leaves. You have to look at these with a magnifying glass to really appreciate the work that goes into these type of buttons. They surely do not make things like this, these days. The intricate artistry is just amazing. The shanks are all present on all 8 of this set of buttons, some are slightly bent, but none are broken or loose. They appear to be part of the button back itself by some kind of welding process, as far as I can see with my jewelers loop. These are fairly heavy buttons, they weigh 34 grams all together, all 8 of them. So I don't think they would be suitable to anything thin or lightweight, such as lingerie. I think they would look great on a pink cashmere cardigan. In any case, you can decide by the photos how you wish to use them. Let me know if you have any questions, via the Go site, and they will email me and vice versa.
