Lovely Victorian Era / Civil War Period silverplate teapot.
Bottom is marked - "MF'D & PLATED BY REED & BARTON DESIGN - PAT. OCT. 5. 1869" and numbered "2425."
Teapot features abstract, floral, and symmetrical geometric motifs. There are lion's heads adorning the handle, underside of the lip, and upper part of each foot, - adding an air of royalty to the piece. The face of the sphinx is placed at the bottom of the feet and an intriguing nuance .
Reed and Barton have been a prominent American, silversmith manufacturer since 1824.
