The table is typical of Victorian style furniture. It is made from burr walnut which is not only strong, but has a beautiful grain. To highlight the grain, this table has been French polished. A French polish is an alcohol and shellac polish for wood. It takes a lot of patience, but it is one of the most beautiful finishes available, producing an exceptionally high gloss.



The table has four extendable leaves which can be added or removed as required by a special double wind out mechanism with brass castors. When completely wound in, the table is transformed into a normal-sized round dining table. The four detachable table top pieces can be stored away until they are required. Four elegantly carved legs hold up the large table and are on wheels.



The table top has exquisite marquetry decorations. These regal decorations include bouquets of beautiful flowers, vases, swirls and geometric designs.



The set of 12 chairs comprise 10 chairs and a pair of armchairs. They are hand carved solid walnut with beautiful leather upholstery and brass studs. They compliment the dining table perfectly.




Measurements



When fully extended the table measures approximately 430 cm long and 150 cm wide. When fully closed the table has a diameter of 150 cm. The 4 leaves are 70 cm each.
