***PHOTOS are lightened to show DETAIL! This is an absolutely gorgeous "museum quality" black velvet cape. It dates back to late 1890's to early 1900's. I've lightened the photos so you can see the detail of the ribbon and glass beadwork on the cape. The cape is so black that it could be referred to as "pitch" black. There are virtually no missing beads and the braided ribbon-like trim is in very, very good condition. The tiny bright spots in the photos are reflection of the flash off of the glass beads. There's also beadwork and braided ribbon-like trim on the collar of the cape. The cape measures 28 inches down the center of the back from the collar to the hemline. Please see the close-up of the clasp...it has an enamel finish. ****The only flaws I can find is that there's a tiny slit in the lining about 1/4 inch long. Also about 3/4 inch damage to a piece of the braided ribbon trim and three places where maybe 6-10 tiny glass beads are missing. (please see last 2 photos as I've enlarged the damage to the trim and I'm also showing a spot where there's some missing beads. All in all, this cape is so beautiful that unless you search it with a magnifying glass, it looks perfect. While shopping, be sure to check out my hat shop!
