Here is a fancy solid brass Victorian floor lamp generally referred to as a piano lamp. These were designed to adjust up and down depending on the lighting needs. The lamp was originally kerosene, but was later converted to electric. There is a clear glass chimney and its lovely original hand painted 9” diameter globe. The lamp has a highly decorative brass font which originally held the kerosene. There are a couple small dents in the font which is to be expected, but does not detract from its appeal. Below the font is the adjusting pole. By pulling up on the font the height of the globe raises form 58” to 72” tall. Notice the small cast button on the rod. By pushing the button, the lamp will lower to your desired position. Care should be taken when raising or lowering the font. There is an on/off switch in the cord which is in excellent working condition. Below is a pierced cast brass shelf which measures 9” square. The lamp is supported by 4 serpentine shaped brass legs. What a lovely and useable piece of Victoriana.
