The dolls were placed in shadow boxes with floral decorations upon the premature death of the child. Sometimes refered to as 'Mourning Dolls'.They were placed above the coffin of the dead child. Only a few known examples exist in the world today. All in private collections or museums.This beautiful doll is the first to be offered to the public in over 30 years.
