This is the 6 1/2" bread and butter plate in the Gingham pattern made by Vernon Kilns from 1949 through 1958. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There are a couple very light, very minor scratches from use and stacking. They were initially known as Vernon Potteries from about 1928 until the late forties when the name was changed to Vernon Kilns. The pottery was bought out in 1958 by Metlox and was closed entirely in 1960. This bread and butter plate is marked Under Glaze Hand Painted Gingham Vernonware California U.S.A. on the bottom (see photos) and is 6 3/8" in diameter.
