VERNON KILNS COLLECTOR PLATE, THE ALAMO, SAN ANTONIO. This depicts the Alamo as seen in the 1930 to 40's. The back reads " The Alamo America's Most Historic Mission San Antonio, Texas Designed Exclusively for Sommers Drug Stores by Vernon Kilns U.S.A.". The Sommers Drug store merged with Renfro Drug Co. of Austin in 1961. Very brief historical note about Cavett. According to Maxine Feek Nelson, no one remembers Cavett's first name. He was the artist for the Bits Series. In the 1940s he took a leave of absence to join the military in WWII and was killed during paratrooper training.
