This slicer is a very early, pre patent version of the Home Vegetable Slicer made by the Specialty Company of Catawissa, PA and was part of a de-acquisition of the Atwater Kent Museum in Philadelphia, PA. This is truly a wonderful specimen with a dark cherry colored patina and no cracks or chips. The slicer has 10 cutting blades that are still very sharp and have all of the teeth still intact. Especially interesting is the sliding cover on the slicer - some one in years past has sketched in a wreath pattern on its back and written in the name Maggie. Both the slicer and the pusher have the words Pat. Apld. For stamped onto them. This is a museum quality slicer that would hold its own in any antique kitchen utensil collection and it displays very well.
