Very well made and stoutly constructed halberd of unusual form. Broad 9" flamboyant spike, small convex axe blade with small hooks, pierced with clovers and a heart. Stout back beak with pierced clover and heart. Rectangular ferrule with roped zwinge (reinforcing band) and 4 long straps. Mounted on original octagonal shaft (somewhat bent) with inventory number (faint) and original brass head nails. Original base shoe with replaced ferrule. Interesting and attractive sergeant’s polearm from the Zurich Zeughaus (arsenal). Length of metal 31", overall length 90".
