This two-level antique Asian basket was originally used to store hats. It is made from split bamboo and closely woven fiber. Each layer has a wooden base. The walls and top of the box are composed of two separate layers of weaving, which provides strength and rigidity. There are some tears in the outer layer of the top. It has brass fasteners on the sides for strength and decorative carvings.
