Transom, Eliptical, Lead, American c.1790-1810

Unavailable
To a fine and rare early federal New England Overdoor elliptical shaped transom window and frame. The exterior constructed of hard pine contains many small panes of glass, which appear to be original to the unit. Separating the glass are decorative astragals mounted with ornamental cast lead to the front. The ornament is of floral nature and developed with large shields to each side. The delicacy of the transom is supported to the rear by metal struts. This transom is one of the finest that we have had in our collection over the years. The window was part of the Henry Ford Museum in Deerfield, Mich., acquired in 1929 and not refitted.
