Atlas Vallard , unique facsimile limited edition maps
This is a one-time only extremely faithful facsimile limited edition of the Atlas Vallard, the first to include maps where according to Peter Trickett's "Beyond Capricorn", Australia is first depicted, even more than 200 years before Captain Cook's arrival.

This is a very peculiar atlas as, apart from being the first to supposedly portray Australia as Terra Java, it is also South oriented, like an Arab map, which it is not, or it represents the Canada native inhabitants being colonized besides some more extraordinary features.
This atlas was made c. 1547 and its size is ± 15"x11" (390 x 280 mm), it has 68 pages with 15 double-page nautical charts.
It is bound with real leather (c. 1805) with gold decoration and comes accompanied with a protective case and a full-colour commentary volume (244 p.) by Luís Filipe F. R. Thomaz (Director of the Institute for Oriental Studies of the Portuguese Catholic University), Dennis Reinhartz (Emeritus professor at the University of Texas in Arlington) and Carlos Miranda (Doctor in History).
