Tie Clip/Designer/Swank W/Male Cameo
A lovely old Swank tie clip. It dates from April 17, 1936-Sometime in 1940. I can narrow it down this close because of the marks on the back. There is a pat. number. It also has a Swank Klip stamp. But, what helps to narrow it down so close is what I think is a "B.&W. stamp. On April 17,1936,Baer&Wilde merged with the distributor of Swank and the name was changed to Swank Products, Inc. in 1940. There is a stamp that looks like a "PLA", this could mean it was plated, not sure. But, it does appear to have been gold plated. The male figure in the cameo is made of plastic, but is nicely done. He looks like a Greek or Roman soldier. There is wear and a bit of finish problems, but nothing really bad, when you consider it's age. A great addition to any collection. It measures aprox. 1 1/4"X7/8". The pics do not do it any justice. The shipping fees quoted are for first class/No insurance in USA.
