This cruiseship-inspired Steamer lounge chair with its detachable extending foot rack from the mid-1970s by Canadian designer Thomas Lamb (1938-1997) epitomizes the beauty of bent furniture. Strips of Mabau teak have been meticulously steam bent to the right curvature, then lined up perfectly to maintain the precise angles. With its obvious Scandinavian influence, the chairs organic and unified design is mesmerizing conveying an overall sense of serenity and simple beauty.
