Theatre by W. Somerset Maugham is the basis of the film Being Julia starring Annette Benning. This hardover copy from the first printing is beautiful. The spine with its intricate gold design is not the least bit faded.
Published 1937 by Doubleday, Doran & Company. Printed at Country Life Press, Garden City (Queens), NY.
CONDITION: Clean unfaded black cloth boards with gold decoration and title box on spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean (slight yellowing). Owners name in ink on FFEP; no writing or marks. 292 pp.
William Somerset Maugham 1874-1965) was an English novelist and playwright. Among his best known works are The Razor's Edge, Of Human Bondage, The Letter, The Moon and Sixpence and "Rain" (aka Sadie Thompson).
