France: Editions de la Main Fleurie, 2004. 15.5 x 12. Hardcover. 244 pages. Portfolio of 'loose' signatures issued in two volumes and housed in elaborate cloth clamshell box. One of 2500 produced. Accompanied by a choice of Audubon's writings. Introduced by Ben Forkner, an authority on the life and writings of Audubon and a founding member of the Audubon Scientific Committee in France. Printed on Main Flaurie paper made from new textile fibre, manufactured by Arches in the Vosges, specially for the book. Due to the slow cylinder motion rotation the paper has a felt-like softness, very close to handmade paper. Fine condition.
