Restaurant ware dish from the Manhattan, New York novelty "The Forum of the Twelve Caesars". This was a themed restaurant begun in 1957, known for it's extravagance; the back stamp date code is for the third quarter of 1960. Made by Mayer China; designed by Alexander Girard. Gold over-glaze on white china; shows some wear. Measures 3 7/8"d: described as a butter pat by some, an ashtray by others. Glaze shows some light crazing. Sold as is.
