One of the many books from the Estate of Francis P. Fretwell that we will be selling. The library is the largest privately owned collection of dog books in the world. Mr. Fretwell was the owner of Monfret Kennels, which bred champion standard poodles. He was former president and governor of the Poodle Club of America, and the Italian Greyhound Club of America. He also served as a delegate to the American Kennel Club for decades. His wonderful collection of books has been carefully maintained. *** The Bull Terrier. By E. S. Montgomery. A comprehensive treatise on the history, management, breeding, training, care, showing and judging of Bull Terriers. ¬ìWhatever else of Doctor Montgomery, he knows this subject and he writes well.¬î ¬ó Herm David. Jacket is in only fair condition, with losses and tears, and the front cover of the jacket is detached. Boards have very slight shelf wear, and just faint wear to spine head. Inscription by Dr. Montgomery on front fixed endpaper, typed and signed letter by Dr. Montgomery on front free endpaper. Light age toning but otherwise very clean and sound. The book itself in VG+ condition.
