Description: 3950 British Pounds. A sensitive and perceptive portrait in a good 18th c. carved and giltwood frame.William Mosman (c.1700-71) studied with Aikman in London, then in Rome under Francesco Imperiali. Working in Edinburgh until 1745,settling in Aberdeen by the 1750's, running a Drawing Academy there in the 1760's. His work is in collections at Kinnaird Castle, Culzean Castle, Aberdeen Art Gallery and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
