A Most Amazing, Highly Repousse Tea & Coffee Service In The Teniers Style. Teniers, The Family Name Of Flemish Artists Who Flourished In Antwerp & Brussels During The 17th Century. David Teniers Born In 1582, Studied Under Rubens In Antwerp And Then Under Elsheimer In Rome. Teniers Claim To Fame Was Mostly From His Paintings Of Landscapes And Peasants Carousing, And His Works Are Displayed At The Finest Museums Throughout Europe. The National Gallery In London Has A Characteristic Scene Of Village Life "Playing At Bowls" A "Conversation" Of Three Men And A Woman And A "Large Rocky Landscape". His Son, Also Named David, Was Almost Ranking In Celebrity With Rubens And Van Dyck, Continued In This Style. During The Early Victorian Period The English Silversmiths Were Actively Taking Influences From All Over The World, And As We Can See Here, The Teniers Style Was Transformed By The Finest English Silversmiths Onto Silver Items. This Is A Very Rare, Complete Tea Service In The Tenier Style, As Usually One Can Find Only One Or Two Odd Pieces. This Set Is Hand Made By One Of The Finest Silversmithing Firms Of The Period, Hunt & Roskell, Who Continued The Work Of The Premier Silversmith Paul Storr. The Body Of Each Piece Of This Tea Service Is Totally Decorated With Hand Chased Figures In Drinking Scenes Sitting Beneath Trees Outside Inns, And You Can See The Buildings Complete With Thatched Roof, Along With The Trees & Foliage, As Well As Adults & Children, Drinking, Relaxing and Playing. The Finials On Top Of Each Lid Are Of Sitting Figures Drinking Or Smoking. The Decoration Even Continues Onto The Handles & Spouts Of All The Pieces. This Truly Is A Work Of Art, Decorative, But Still Usable. Each Piece Is Fully & Correctly Hallmarked. The Tray, Dated Mid 20th Century, Has A Cast Border With Foliage Decoration With Insects And Bugs Throughout, And A Beautiful Dove Hand Engraved In The Center. The Tray Compliments This Set Perfectly, And Is Actually A Copy Of A Style Designed By Paul Storr In A Large Salver. The Entire Service Is To Be Considered One Of A Kind, And A Most Amazing Centerpiece In Any Room. .. The Set Consists Of The Tea Pot, Coffee Pot, Tilting Kettle On Stand With Burner, Creamer & Sugar. It Also Has A Hot Milk Jug Which Is Very Unusual To Find In Any Service.
