Tendai Gatsi Shona Serpentine Sculpture

This is magnificent figural sculpture by the Shona artist, Tendai Gatsi (1972- ), was carved from black serpentine stone. Measures 10.5" high, 5" wide and 3" deep and weighs an estimated 8-12 lbs. Signed at the base of the rear. Tendai was born in Guruve, studied in Shamva began his career in Chitungwiza. In Zimbabwe his works have been exhibited at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe (www.nationalgallery.co.zw), and Stone Heritage Gallery in Harare. Overseas his work has been exhibited in the U.S., Ireland, Portugal, France, and England. This item resides on the Upper West Sde of Manhattan in New York City, and may be seen by appointment.
