Here is a Telephone Operators chair or a train Depot Operators chair in solid oak. The top chair rotates on a steel mechanism that allows the chair to be raised another 5 inches if so desired. The seat height is 31 inches above the floor when the mechanism is in its lowest position. The chair has been totally reglued as well as the base.
