A most unusual find is the exotic Calamander wood dome top tea caddy. The caddy interior has two spring loaded domed decorative hinged tops having brass plaques incised with the word "Black" (referring to the type of tea). Note the engraved etched hinges and fabulous thick brass overlay decoration. Some of he brass nail heads are missing and the front springs to hold the interior domed tops closed are worn and need attention. A makers mark is inscribed in brass: Smith, 21 Commercial St. Leeds. English, Circa 1840. Width 8¾", Height 6½", Depth 4¾".
