Vegetable ivory is the corozo nut of a South American palm tree. When exposed to light it turns honey color. Since 1700 turners and carvers have used the nuts for small items.Cloth tape over 18' would be wound by hand. Carvings on sides of container and vegetable ivory handle on tape.
