A rare pristine albumen print with strong purple coloration (very desirable in albumen prints, but difficult to capture in the scan). Possibly a George Fiske photograph. With Taber label and copyright burned into the negative, bottom edge. Printed from a wet collodion glass plate negative. Early landscape photographers of the 1850s and 60s were forced to make a second negative to expose the clouds, due to the wet collodion negatives oversensitivity to blue light. The two negatives were then sandwiched for printing, as is evident in this print.
