Supraphon Turntable in Walnut & Birch Cabinet

This 1950’s Supraphon Turntable is constructed out of a walnut cabinet with a birch interior. The turntable has a compartment for extra needles, marked, Supraphon Reflects The Tone, and still has needles in the case. The tone arm is marked Ultraphone and the original Supraphon label appears inside the cabinet showing Model S 09, No. 95593 Made in Czechoslovakia, suitable for 78 records. The Supraphon Turntable measures, 09.00” H X 24.50” W X 16.75” D in the closed position and, 24.00” D in the opened position. Supraphon was a Czechoslovakian company that registered its trademark in 1932. It was considered a technical marvel of its day, originally producing record players. In the post-war years it was the label of domestic albums produced for export.
