Sublimely Sophisticated Original Vintage Art Deco Ad taken from the pages of a Spring, 1934 issue of Fortune Magazine. Unequivocally the American Advertisers of the thirties, were in a unique position to promote both product and artistic innovation during the dazzling days of the Art Deco period, perhaps never more perfectly defined than in the pages of leading modern periodicals such as Fortune. Created in 1930 as a prescient barometer of taste and daring, Fortune was willing to present viewers with provocative, intelligent articles, surrounded by some of the most lavish, epic and sumptuous of all modern advertising images. Mimeograph, created by the A.B. Dick Co, new on the scene crafted some extraordinary images, ideally suited to promote the craftsmanship of this new product. Artist Donald Denton's image of a dashing dandy of yesteryear invokes historic integrity in a divinely bold and sophisticated style. This is one of a series of ads he designed in the short period of three years- it's strenght and delicacy remain as beautiful and exceptional as they were in 1934.
