Suitcase for a rich gentleman. The outside is looking a bit shabby, but it has been traveling. The inside is with some red fabric, that looks like leather, but I do not think that that is so. At the left are 7 hand bevelled bottles. The 5 in the middle have silver tops. The other 2 have chromed tops. Of one of them the chrome is not so good anymore. Under the bottles there is an inkwell and a shifter. Both have at the side under the red fabric a small button and if you press that they spring open. Do not try to open them in another way, because then you might damage them. At the right there are 2 hand bevelled bottles with chromed tops and 3 ivory brushes. The 2 large ivory brushes are 12.4 centimeter by 6.6 centimeter. The other one is 15 centimeter by 3 centimeter. The brushes alone must have been quite expensive. At the back there are: a mirror, a cigar case, a box, something that contains now only a nail vile with an ivory handle. In the lid of the suitcase there is : a broken comb of material that I can not recognize,2 large boot hooks with ivory handles, an ivory letter opener, something to sharpen razor blades, a small bag that contains a small book with paper and an ivory pen holder and an ivory pencil. Further the suitcase is containing a round glass box with a chromed lid and a metal box that should contain shaving soap, but what contains now some weird stuf. In the lid is written : PORTMANTEAU MANUFACTURER FISHER I B B STRAND LONDON ESTd 1838. So Fisher is the company who made this whole thing. The suitcase is 68 centimeter by 40 centimeter and 20 centimeter deep. It is extremely heavy, but I think that the guy, who owned it, had a butler for that. It weighs almost 15 kilogram. In case of interest there are more pictures available.
