Western Reserve Woolen Fabric Rule Beveled Antique
This is a nice clean antique hardwood ruler marked "WESTERN RESERVE WOOLEN CO. CLEVELAND O." on one side in the center of the 45" long rule. This rule has beveled edges with inch marking and 1/8" graduations, but also has YARD graduations at the center in 1/16. 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 7/8, 1, & 1-1/8 YARD graduations. Often rulers like this were made for specific applications, in a specific size and shape. This ruler or yard stick, has very good markings and graduations, some darkening on the hardwood, and a few minor stains or stained areas, but overall is very readable, very little wear. Both ends of this rule are have very nice, well attached brass caps in the same shape as the rule with beveled edges. There are a few wood grain seperations noted at the end, considered minor due to the brass end caps making those seperation stay tight. This is a very rare rule from a manufacturing company in Cleveland Ohio in the early 1900's.
