These are two extraordinary julep cups from the Merkley and Kendrick silversmiths in Kentucky. Consecutive Kentucky Derby Winners, Swale in 1984 and Sunny's Halo in 1983. Swale was an American thoroughbred racehorse. He is best known for winning the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes in 1984. Sunny's Halo was a Thoroughbred racehorse who became only the second Canadian-bred to win the Kentucky Derby and who as of 2006 is the all-time leading sire by progeny earnings in the state of Texas. Both cups measure 3.5 x 3 x " at the top of the cups and the bottom diameter is 2.5". The Swale cup weighs 4.79 troy ounces and Sunny's Halo weighs 4.69 troy ounces. These are priced as a set, but can be broken up.
