Sterling silver march case - probably made to hold book matches, although loose matches could also be held, as there is a lower lip to tuck the bases under. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1929. Maker is Hassett and Harper Limited. The cover of this case is engraved with the entwined monogram H.M.C. (or could be M.H.C.). It measures 60 mm by 45 mm and 7 mm thick (2.3/8 inches by 1.3/4 inches by
1/4 inch). Some little dents and scuffing, commensurate with being carried in a gent's pocket. Silver weight is approx. 22.5 grams.
