STERLING Hand WASHING Ewer+Bowl Rachtzah SEDER
It looks like a skilled silversmith combined a bonbon dish, small pitcher and basket handle to create this item. The pitcher tilts in the handle to pour water on your finger tips. The ritual ablution satisfies, symbolically at least, the requirement of washing ones hands before saying motzi and eating.
The dish has chased roses and godroon border. The handle has a continuous pattern of stylized fruit trees. The pitcher is beautifully formed and unadorned.
Dish and ewer stamped STERLING.
Measures 6 inch diameter, 5 inches tall.
Very good overall condition. Two tiny dings in the pitcher. No other dents and no repairs.
