This is a super precision, quality 0-1" bench type micrometer, marked "THE L.S. STARRETT CO. ATHOL MASS. U.S.A. NO. 677 .0001" DIVISION" on the thimble. The stand part is wrinkle finish painted, cast iron, with prevision for adjusting the inspection pad up and down, and also end adjustment for calibration purposes. If you never used one of these super precision micrometer, you may be surprised at how acurate they are, and the better feel you have with this larger (2.2" diameter) thimble section. Designed for when you can bring work to the micrometer, like in an inspection department for example. Overall this micrometer is in top used condition, with some satin nickel plating missing in a few small spots as shown in the pictures, and some minor staining noted on the adjustable steel pad surface, a few minor dings on one of the adjustment screws. There is about 99% of the black paint intact on the base. We did calibrate this tool at 68 degrees, and it is in perfect working condition. A very hard to find, quality made inspection micrometer!
