Stanley No 5 1/2 C Jack Plane Type 8
Offering this nice clean Stanley Bailey No 5 1/2 corrugated bottom, Jack Plane Type 8, dated 1899-1902, and has a type 10 cutter iron (1907-1909). The plane is in very good condition with some wear on the original black Japaning, but about 85% still intact; bear metal surfaces good++ condition, no cracks or chips; clean. The 2 1/4 inch wide blade is very clean, ready to work, no cracks or chips; cutter is about 95% full original length, and sharp. The rosewood handle is solid and clean; very minor wear, no chips, one repaired crack which, has been tested and is smooth and solid. Rosewood knob is in very good shape, solid and clean, minor dings, no chips, 2 minor grain seperations noted in the bottom area, but still very solid. Marked "NO. 5 1/2" in front of the knob, and "STANLEY RULE & LEVEL NEW BRITIAN CONN. U.S.A." on the cutter. This was the model just before the frog adjustment screw was added, so the frog is adjustable, but the casting has no place for an adjustment screw. Overall condition is good++, some minor scratches, and edge dings, very nice, clean plane for your collection and/or use!
