These 1937 playing cards are a great piece of railroad history. A full deck of Southern Pacific Railroad Playing Cards. The front of the cards show the the train zooming past a Mission style building with mountains in the background and palm trees in the foreground. The engine reads Southern Pacific Lines Daylight. Each card has a different scenic picture on it with the name of the location and state. The pictures are in 3 different colors and are according to suit. Spades & clubs are tan, hearts are green, diamonds are a different shade of green. There is one joker and the other joker substitute is an advertisement for their Salad Bowl. That card reads The SALAD BOWL Featured on our dining cars. Fresh, Crisp, Delicious. Made of the choicest vegetables. All you want. You help yourself. SOUTHERN PACIFIC. The cards are in a brown card box. The cards are in used condition and one card has a small corner missing, another card has a crease in the corner.
