Smoking Item/Wooden Cigarette Box/Holds 3 Short

What a cutie! I believe this little box lived at least part of it's life on the counter of some little store, as a cigarette sampler. It may not have started life out that way. It appears to have been put together with machined parts, but the lettering of the cigarette brands looks like they were carved out by hand. They are not perfect or even close. The decorations appear to be faux inlay. The designs were "etched" in and colored. Inside the lid are two cute little Scottie dogs. There is scuff marks on the top. The left hinge is missing one of it's tiny brads and the others are loose. The hinges that lift the box/tray that holds the three packs of cigarettes is in good working order. It measures aprox. 5" across the front bottom/aprox. 3 1/2" front to back/4 1/4" tall. With some minor repair to the hinge, I believe the lid will line up correctly. I have been told that these have been seen stamped Japan.
