Framed and signed Victor Valery colored etching, "Tournelle Walk Facing Notre Dame," circa 1910, on soft brown paper with pencil signature beneath image in the lower right corner. Promising French artist Victor Valery (1889-1910) lived a short life, making his signed etchings rare and hard to find. This etching depicts a walkway along the Seine River, facing the Notre Dame Cathedral, and populated with walkers and shoppers. The image measures about 8 1/8 inches by 6 1/8 inches. The framed piece measures about 14 1/2 inches by 12 3/4 inches. The etching is in very good to excellent condition, with no discernible damage. The matting appears to be fairly new. The age of the gilded wood frame is unknown. It shows some age and wear and tear but has been touched up with gold paint and looks very presentable.
